In short, products (cosmetics, skincare, hair, fragrance products) made without ingredients proven or suspected of harming human health. Why should we be concerned with ingredients from the products we use since we don’t ingest these products? Because a majority of the products we use on our body are being absorbed through our skin.
Secondly, we can not rely on governments and their regulations to ensure products we use are safe for our health. A perfect example is comparing regulations between the European Union and the United States of America. In the USA, the FDA has currently banned only 11 cosmetic ingredients, while in the EU over 1,300 ingredients are banned. So companies operating in the US face much less stringent regulations than companies operating in the EU do, so US companies continue to pack the products that we use every day (mascara, face wash, conditioner, and more) with potentially harmful ingredients that can include known carcinogens, irritants, and endocrine disruptors.
